Welcome to the PTA Page

PTA Christmas Fair

Message from Miss Walker

Thank you for our fundraising extravaganza week!

I feel so privileged and delighted to announce that the Fair this year raised £4000. This is an incredible achievement as we are all still working within Covid restrictions yet our spirits remain high.

I would like to run through the amazing week we have just had and take a moment to acknowledge and thank everyone.

On Monday we began with our amazing Bake-Off competition. I am extremely grateful to Mrs Pathak for all her hard work and enthusiasm for this activity. The standard was phenomenal and the entry level was record breaking! Forty-three children entered this competition and for the first time ever every child and adult in the school voted for their favourite. This was a mammoth task but we eventually found our winners. Every child who entered was awarded a certificate. You can see all our entries on the school website on the PTA page.

The winners were:

1st place  Nuveena  & Saam

2nd place Saffron & Luke and Benjamin Anderson

3rd place Nate & Anjali

On Tuesday we had our Mufti Day and everyone came bearing gifts for the tombola. Thank you to my Christmas Mummy Elves who created Hamper prizes with some of the gifts.

On Wednesday we had our Arts and Crafts Day. I am extremely grateful to Preena and her Arts and Crafts team for not only leading the event all day but for also donating all the resources we used. We are particularly grateful to Nahar for baking so many tasty biscuits! The children were so happy creating their masterpieces. The atmosphere in the room was very festive and full of joy and laughter which was priceless. Thank you for giving the gift of joy.

On Thursday we were treated to a superb day of games. I cannot believe how Farzana, Bhavs and their Games team managed to set up such a fun day whilst having to work around our lunchtime restrictions!

The children had a wonderful time playing all the games and selecting their prizes. The Stack Them Up winners in EYFS/KS1 were Mannat, Muhammed Y and Jasmine. The winners in KS2 were Hannah, Martin and Ella. Thank you for giving the gift of smiles and laughter.

On Friday we began with our Raffle and Auction winners. I couldn’t believe how many tickets had been sold; the container was overflowing with potential winners. Thank you to those of you who joined us for the draw. It’s hard to believe there were thirty-nine prizes. Our top prize of the Xbox S series was won by Sahib, with second prize going to Karina and third to Elizabeth.

Winners of the auction were also announced. Thank you to everyone who entered into the spirit of this. I hope you all enjoy your prizes.

Finally, we finished our epic week of fundraising with our Fair. I would like to thank;

  • Everyone who donated and contributed to the Fair.
  • All stall helpers who gave so generously of their time. This includes all the wonderful parents past and present and all our amazing school staff. You all created such a wonderful atmosphere which brought alive the spirit of Christmas.

To highlight just a few, I would like to say a special thank you to Simona and her kitchen team for all the cooking, serving and efficient cleaning up. Thank you for leaving the kitchen so tidy. It was very much appreciated on Monday morning.

  • Shayan, one of our past pupils, and our Y6 boys who ran the Beat the Goalie stall.
  • Thank you to our Santa and his elves who worked really hard to ensure everyone had a fabulous visit. I would also like to thank Des for creating our amazing grotto.

These events only happen as a result of lots of hard work behind the scenes. We are all extremely grateful to Vanita, Souri, Jen and Ghazala who have helped every day to ensure we had a fair. On behalf of everyone at Courtland I would like to thank our PTA committee for their drive and determination.

We can never take for granted the wonderful support we receive as a school as we really do appreciate everything everyone does. The Courtland community has been unable to thrive in its usual way due to the pandemic restrictions but we are slowly trying to bring back all the wonderful activities we have shared over the years. Thank you for helping us to show our community at its best.

This was a truly magical week and the fun does not stop there. We still have festive activities to enjoy:

  • As I write, our pantomime is in full swing. There are lots of excited children in the hall or watching it live streamed to their classrooms.
  • Wednesday is Christmas lunch day. All children come dressed in Christmas jumpers or dresses to help us celebrate this special time of year.
  • On Thursday there is the St Alban pantomime. Please collect your children at 12 noon from the front entrance if you have tickets to go there.

We break up at 2pm on Friday 17th December to start our Christmas holidays.

I would like to wish you all the very best for the festive season and look forward to seeing you all in the new year.

Best wishes and heartfelt thanks

Lisa Walker
